Macau receives fewer visitors in the first half of 2015

In the first half of the year 14,756,499 people visited Macau, which is 3.5 percent less than in the same period of 2014, according to the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

The number of visitors from Mainland China fell 4.2 percent to 9,784,792. There was also a decrease of 0.3 percent in visitors from Hong Kong, which totalled 3,155,152.

Visitors from the Republic of Korea increased 9.6 percent to 293,563 and from Taiwan totalled 465,497.

Also according to DSEC, Macau received 2,248,281 visitors in June which was 7.6 percent less than in the same period of 2014.

In June 2015, there was a drop in the number of visitors, in annual terms, from the majority of countries or territories in Asia including Mainland China with 10.1 percent fewer entries into Macau.

In June visitors from Taiwan fell by 5.9 percent and there were decreases of 24.8 percent and 3.3 percent in tourists from the Republic of Korea and India. (macauhub/MO)
