Mozambique wants French investment in the agricultural industry

27 July 2015

The President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi said in Paris that he had called on French businesspeople to invest in industrial agriculture in his country.

President Filipe Nyusi noted that there is a huge workforce available in Mozambique that can be leveraged for the agricultural sector, according to Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias.

Nyusi recalled that the gas sector was important because it would catapult the Mozambican economy, but also noted there were other areas where French businesspeople could invest, particularly in renewable energy and banking.

Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported that the French want to invest in the renewable energy sector by building a 30-megawatt power plant in Metoro, in Cabo Delgado province in northern Mozambique, and a French commercial is expected to be set up in Mozambique soon.

A French mission is due to visit Mozambique soon to explore business opportunities with local businesspeople. (macauhub/MO)
