Macau received 17.4 million visitors from January thru July

Macau received 17.4 million visitors in the first seven months of 2015, marking a year-on-year contraction of 3.5 percent, the Statistics and Census Service reports.

The number of visitors from mainland China (11.5 million) was 4.5 less in annual terms and the number of visitors from Taiwan was 558,900, similar to the figure for the same period in 2014.

On the other hand, the number of visitors from Hong Kong (3.7 million) and South Korea (330,600) respectively rose by 0.6 percent and 4.8 percent.

In July a total of 2.6 million visitors entered Macau, up 17.8 percent over June and 3.8 percent less than in July 2014.

Visitors stayed in the territory for an average of 1.2 days, i.e. 0.2 days more than in the same month of 2014. (Macauhub/MO)
