51st Maputo International Fair begins on 31 August

28 August 2015

The 51st Maputo International Fair (Facim) begins this coming Monday 31 August and counts participation by 2,950 exhibitors, 680 from abroad and the rest Mozambican, the head of the organising body said on Thursday.

João Macaringue, president of the Export Promotion Institute (Ipex), told AIM news agency that the event had grown quantitatively and qualitatively. He recalled the appreciation of one exhibitor, a participant since 2011, who said there was a notable difference in the products and how they were showcased.

Preparations for this year’s fair enabled the organisation to learn from weak points of previous fairs, especially since it left downtown Maputo and moved to the Marracuene district, said Macaringue, highlighting among positive aspects such as the choice of motto: “Facim, promoting the economic potential of independent Mozambique”.

For this year’s fair the space has been arranged systematically, beginning with the African countries and progressing through America and Europe before ending in the central space with the pavilion of Mozambique, with representatives from all its provinces.

The Ipex president said that all usual exhibitors would be present this year except for India, which registered too late and was unable to obtain a place. (Macauhub/MZ)
