The first mission of German companies to visit the Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) archipelago will take place from 12-16 October, in an initiative coordinated with the 1st International Fair of Environment and Renewable Energy of Cabo Verde (FIAER), according to Cabo Verde weekly newspaper A Semana.
The mission, an initiative of the Portuguese-German Chamber of Commerce (CCILA), in partnership with the Directorate-General for Energy and the support of Cabo Verde Investimentos, the Windward and Leeward Chambers of Commerce, the Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and German consultancy Renewables Academy (Renac), will include representatives of eight companies.
These companies plan, according to the newspaper, to establish partnerships with Cabo Verde companies for increasing energy efficiency and the penetration of renewable energies in the archipelago.
In the statement about the German business mission, the Ministry of Tourism, Investment and Business Development (MTIDE) said the Cabo Verde energy sector was a crucially important part of the country’s economic and social development, as it currently depends on fossil fuels as primary energy sources, which are imported and expensive.
