Macau received 20.4 million visitors from January to August, a figure which represents a decrease of 3.2 percent compared to the same period of 2014, reported the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
The number of visitors from mainland China to Macau in the first eight months of the year exceeded 13.6 million or 67 percent of the total but fell by 4.1 percent year on year.
In contrast, the number of visitors from Hong Kong (4.4 million), Taiwan (650,000) and South Korea (374,000) registered increases of 0.6 percent, 0.5 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively.
In August 3.0 million visitors entered Macau, an increase of 14.5 percent against the previous month and a decrease of 1.7 percent year on year, 2 million originating from mainland China. (macauhub/MO)
