Brazilian oil company Petrobras has discovered light oil in pre-salt reservoirs in a well in the Carcará area of Santos Bay, the company said in a statement issued Monday.
“The discovery in this well, located 226 kilometres off the coast of São Paulo, proved the existence of oil of good quality, located in deposits just below the salt layer,” the statement said.
The Brazilian company also said that this was the third well drilled by the consortium in the Carcará area with data on the pressure and quality of the oil obtained confirming findings extending to the west.
Petrobras is the well operator with a 66 percent stake in partnership with Petrogal Brazil (14 percent), Barar Energia do Brasil Petróleo e Gás (10 percent) and Queiroz Galvão Exploration and Production (10 percent). (macauhub/BR/PT)
