Macau and Hong Kong at the end of the year are due to launch negotiations for the signing of a “high level” agreement to strengthen economic integration and business development, the office of the Macau government spokesman said Friday.
The Agreement covers trade in goods and services, investment promotion, introduction of facilities for investments as well as protection of intellectual property.
The statement said the Macau Economic Service in August passed the work of the first stage of consultation on to public bodies, business sectors, youth associations and academic entities.
Based on views expressed so far, the agreement is expected to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two sides, enhancing the overall competitiveness of Hong Kong and Macau.
The government spokesman noted, however, that there are some differences in some trade and services sectors, and the government of Macau will promote consultation work with the sectors covered in the territory. (macauhub/MO)
