The Agency for Enterprise Development and Innovation (ADEI) of Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) in November held four editions of the competition “Startup Weekend” as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015, ADEI said in a statement.

The chairman of ADEI, Frantz Tavares, is quoted in the statement saying the contest, which “aims to foster an environment where people with an entrepreneurial spirit can develop new business ideas,” will be held in the cities of Assomada (Santiago Island), Sal Rei (Boa Vista), Praia (Santiago) and Mindelo (Sao Vicente).

“This event,” Tavares said, “also aims to link creators and entrepreneurs, who will have the opportunity to develop their business ideas with the help of experienced consultants and present them to a jury.”

Startup Weekend is a global movement, supported by the Kauffman Foundation, which has sought to promote initiatives and innovations. It is present in 152 countries and has been in Cabo Verde since 2012.

Over a weekend consultants and institutional promoters of the event share knowledge, experience, resources and incentives for development individual or team projects to create new businesses. (macauhub/CV)
