The 2015 edition of the Macau International Fair (MIF) is expected to receive around 5,100 trade visitors from 50 countries and regions, the general coordinator of the event said Monday in Macau.
Irene Lau, general coordinator of the 20th MIF and executive member of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), which organises the fair, said that this year’s edition, taking place from 22 to 25 October, will feature more than 150 exhibitors from Portuguese-speaking countries, most of which from Portugal itself.
“MIF has enriched its content and increased the size of the pavilion for the Portuguese-speaking countries, introducing the concept of an exhibition within the exhibition, bringing to an area of 2,241 square metres a total of 249 ‘stands’ with 150 exhibitors,” said Irene Lau .
MIF, which will occupy an area of 37,000 square metres in total, will feature over 2,000 stands and receive more than 950 companies and organisations, an increase of 22 percent compared to 2014, with its budget unchanged at 36 million patacas, or US$4.5 million.
As part of MIF there will also be forums and thematic seminars, focusing this year in addition to the Portuguese-speaking countries on the new “One Belt, One Road” policy, the simplified name of the investment project driven by China to strengthen its position as the commercial and financial centre of Asia.
