Portugal is the 23rd easiest country in the world to do business. The ranking includes 189 world economies and Portugal is also ranked highest among the Portuguese-speaking countries.
The ranking is topped by Singapore, New Zealand, Denmark, South Korea, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Portugal rose on the World Bank’s “Doing Business 2016” ranking and is now in 23rd place among 189 economies evaluated for ease of doing business, according to the published report.
Portugal is ranked highest among the Portuguese-speaking countries, followed, by Brazil (116the place), Cabo Verde (Cape Verde – 126th), Mozambique (133rd), São Tomé and Príncipe (166th), East Timor (Timor-Leste – 173rd), Guinea-Bissau (178th) and Angola (181st).
The report is based on analysis of tenindicators, such as time, cost or procedures to open a business, obtaining construction permits, protecting minority investors, access to electricity, registering property, paying taxes, getting credit, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency.
