The new representative of the Macau government in the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, Cristina Morais, gave assurances that she would work to “achieve the objectives of Forum Macau.”
Fluent in Chinese, Portuguese and English, the new coordinator took office Friday, 6 November, at a ceremony chaired by the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Leong Vai Tac.
Her experience as head of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations of the Macau Economic Services, which she joined in 1991, “allowed Cristina Morais to accumulate knowledge in areas such as foreign trade, including economic cooperation, trade and services between China and Portuguese-speaking countries,” said Leong Vai Tac.
The new coordinator recalled, on the sidelines of the ceremony, that in 2016 the 5th Ministerial Conference will be held, one of the most important events for Forum Macau.
Morais also said that in 2016 the Forum would focus particular attention on the cultural dissemination of Portuguese-speaking countries.
The new coordinator replaces Echo Chan, who resigned in October for personal reasons. (macauhub/CN/MO)
