The population of Macau at the end of September totalled 643,100 people, a figure that represents a quarterly increase of just 200 people, reported the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau.
The females – 326,800 – at the end of the third quarter accounted for 50.8 percent of the territory’s population.
At the end September Macau had 180,700 non-resident workers, a marginal increase of 0.1 percent compared to the 180,500 non-resident workers registered at the end of the first half.
The Statistics and Census Bureau also said that at the end of September there were 1,982 Chinese immigrants, an increase of 19 percent compared to 1,666 in the previous quarter.
Macau has an area of 30.3 square kilometres, the population density of the territory at the end of the third quarter reached of 21,224 people per square kilometre, one of the highest of any country or territory. (macauhub/MO)
