China offers agricultural equipment to Guinea-Bissau

23 November 2015

China has donated agricultural equipment to the government of Guinea-Bissau, specifically farming machinery and air conditioners, worth an estimated US$2 million, in a ceremony held Friday in Bissau.

The equipment was delivered by the Chinese ambassador to Guinea-Bissau, Wuang Hua, to the Guinean secretary of state for Cooperation, Suzi Barbosa.

The Secretary of State said the donation is part of the technical-economic cooperation agreement signed between the two governments on 4 November 2013 in Bissau.

“China will also, at the government’s request, send 10 technicians to train staff for maintenance of buildings built by China in Guinea-Bissau”, said Barbosa, who added that at the end of this visit the country would also be given equipment and materials to repair the buildings.

“This gesture comes at a time when Guinea-Bissau is seriously committed to restoring dialogue and consultation with its international partners under the strategic and operational development plan set out for 2015/2020,” said Barbosa . (macauhub/CN/GW)
