Macau receives 25.49 million visitors from January to October

Macau received 25.49 million visitors from January to October, a year-on-year drop of 2.6 percent, of which 17.02 million were from mainland China, said the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.

After the visitors from mainland China (-3.5 percent year-on-year) in descending order were those from Hong Kong, with 5.43 million and an increase of 1.1 percent, those from Taiwan with 818,000 and an increase of 1.5 percent, and a long way back, with 453,000 visitors and a drop of 2.7 percent, with visitors from South Korea.

In October 2.63 million visitors entered Macau. This was a drop of 0.6 percent compared to the same month of 2014, of which 1.81 million (minus 0.4 percent) were from mainland China, 504,000 (-0.7 percent) from Hong Kong, 83,000 (+5.6 percent) from Taiwan and 42,000 (-5.4 percent) from South Korea.

In 2014 31.5 million visitors entered Macau and if the average monthly rate of 2.54 million people continues this year, there will be a loss of 1 million visitors. (macauhub/MO)
