Demand for Brazilian beef in China in 2016 is expected to be 20,000 tons per month, said the president of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (Abiec).
António Jorge Camardelli, cited by the Brazilian press, said that taking into account the current price per ton of beef, of US$4,700, exports to China of 240,000 tons means a turnover of more than US$1 billion.
“We are very optimistic about the resumption of negotiations with the Chinese authorities,” said the president of Abiec.
Since the resumption of exports to China last June, Brazil has sold 76,200 tons of beef, or a monthly average of 12,000 tons, which generated revenue of US$377.6 million.
António Jorge Camardelli said that the Chinese authorities were expected to certify three cold stores later this year, which will mean that at the end of 2015 will have 14 stores authorised to export beef to China. (macauhub/BR/CN)
