TAP – Air Portugal reinforces connections to Brazil through an agreement with Azul

3 December 2015

Starting next week TAP – Air Portugal will reinforce its links to Brazil, through a code-share agreement with Brazilian airline Azul, owned by David Neeleman, one of the new shareholders of the Portuguese air carrier, TAP said in a statement.

TAP also reported that flights within the partnership were now available to buy and that the first code-share flight with Azul – Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras takes place on 10 December.

Azul now offers services identified with its code on TAP flights between the 12 entry points served in Brazil – Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Salvador, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Campinas, Porto Alegre, Manaus and Belém – and Portugal.

Entrepreneur David Neeleman, owner of Azul, since 12 November has been one of two new shareholders of TAP as part of the Gateway consortium with Humberto Pedrosa, who bought 61 percent of the Portuguese State’s stake in the TAP SGPS group. (macauhub/BR/PT)
