Guangdong wants to strengthen economic relations with Portuguese-speaking countries

The governor of the Chinese province of Guangdong has said he wants to create conditions to develop an economic and trade cooperation platform with the Portuguese-speaking countries.

Zhu Xiaodan spoke in Guangzhou during the meeting of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Assembly, where he presented the province’s Economic Development Plan for the period between 2016 and 2020, which stipulates economic growth of 7 percent.

Zhou said that Guangdong “aims to create a competitive industrial area and a business base for young people along with Hong Kong and Macau. Our goal is to establish an intelligent free trade zone and an international talent port to develop a comprehensive service platform for outside markets”.

The Guangdong governor also said the province plans to build an international port for yachts with a view to promoting relations between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. (macauhub/CN/MO)
