Trade ministers of the Portuguese-speaking countries gather in Timor-Leste

The 2nd meeting of trade ministers of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), will serve, among other things, to assess the degree of implementation of the declaration of the first meeting held in Luanda in May 2012.

This second meeting, to be held Wednesday, 24 February, in Dili, Timor-Leste (East Timor), will also serve to ensure that ministers can discuss the design of and draft the Strategic Plan of multilateral trade cooperation (2016-2018).

At this meeting, Timor-Leste will receive from Angola the rotating presidency of this ministerial meeting.

Delegates from Georgia, Japan, Mauritius, Namibia, Senegal and Turkey will attend the meeting as observers, in addition to regional guests invited by Timor-Leste, such as Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam.

The meeting of of CPLP Trade Ministers was preceded by the 2nd Technical Meeting of the Focal Points of Trade, a preparatory meeting, held Monday and a Trade Conference cycle, on 23 February.

Following the ministerial meeting, trade, business and the economy will be under discussion at the First Global Economic Forum of the CPLP, from 25-27 February, which has the support of the CPLP, the Business Confederation of the CPLP (EC-CPLP) and the CPLP Exporters Union (EU-CPLP).
