Macau supports business between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries

The offices of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) in 2015 supported business estimated at over 3 billion patacas (US$375 million) between mainland China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, according to information from the institute.

IPIM has Liaison Offices in the provinces of Zhejiang (Hangzhou), Sichuan (Chengdu), Guangdong (Jieyang), Liaoning (Shenyang) and Fujian (Fuzhou).

IPIM, in a published statement, pointed out that investments in 2015 were carried out in high-tech sectors, tourism and real estate, biomedicine, new energy, logistics and storage and environmental protection, among others.

In the high-tech area IPIM highlighted the decision of the Newland Hi-Tech Group of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, to set up a company in Macau to develop intelligent systems for transport and environmental technologies.

The Director-General of Newland Hi-Tech Group, Liu Jindong said that, in 2015, the group had created the Macao Newland Tech Co., Ltd which initially will invest 1 billion patacas (US$125 million) to use Macau as a business platform for the Portuguese-speaking countries and the regions of Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
