China supports 5th Ministerial Conference of Forum Macau

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wong Yi, assured the head of the Macau government, Chui Sai On, his ministry would support the 5th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic Cooperation and Trade between China and the Portuguese-Speaking Countries.

Chui Sai On was received in Beijing, along with other Chinese leaders, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to whom he gave a brief presentation of the socio-economic development of the territory, according to an official statement issued in Macau.

The statement, which gives no further details, said Wang Yi expressed the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for hosting the 5th Ministerial Conference of Forum Macau, due to be held next November in Macau.

Chui Sai On, who was accompanied by the Secretary for Security and the Director General of the Customs Service, also visited China’s General Customs Office, and said Macau aimed to strengthen the cooperation with the countries involved in the “One Belt, One Road” strategy, through “cultural and tourist resources and the relationships with the Portuguese-speaking countries.” (macauhub/CN/MO)
