The role of the National Bank of Angola will be strengthened in order to boost the financial system and contribute to the prosperity of businesses and households, said the new governor of the central bank following his inauguration ceremony Monday in Luanda.
“We have received from the President the responsibility to make the National Bank of Angola a real foreign exchange, regulatory, monetary and supervisory authority,” said Válter Duarte da Silva.
Inducted in the same ceremony, the new minister of Hotels and Tourism, Paulino Domingos Baptista, said that the sector was “key” to getting more revenues for the state coffers.
The minister said it was important to implement programmes to boost the domestic sector and create tourist attractions in the different provinces of the country, in order to obtain more revenue.
The President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, on Monday inducted the new political appointees named on 4 March, including five ministers, two governors (of the BNA and a provincial governor) as well as four provincial deputy governors. (macauhub/AO)
