The 2016 of the Macau International Environmental Cooperation Forum (MIECF) has 50 participants from Portuguese-speaking countries, said Irene Lau, executive director of the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).
Under the theme “Green Economy – Opportunities for Waste Management”, from 31 march to 16 April MIECF 2016 will bring 400 organisations from 19 countries and regions and 45 speakers to Macau.
The 9th edition of MIECF has a budget of 25 million patacas, as in previous editions. Some 25 protocols, ten of them involving Pearl River Delta organisations are expected to be signed during the forum.
Irene Lau mentioned the protocols that have already been agreed, focusing on environmental protection, green building, lighting, renewable energy and techniques for waste treatment.
Raymond Tam Vai Man, director of the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), said the event “has advocated for the concept ‘Think Green, Clean Environment, Live Well’, gradually becoming an exhibition of efficient environmental industry on an international level.”
This event is due to be held at the Venetian hotel and entertainment complex and exhibitors will take up an area of 16,900 square metres. (macauhub/MO)
