Fixed line and mobile phone numbers in Angola will continue to have nine digits

31 March 2016

Telephone communications on fixed and mobile networks in Angola will continue to be processed with nine digit numbers to support a decision upheld by the Radio Spectrum and Numbering plan approved Wednesday by the Angolan Cabinet.

The Minister for Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Carvalho da Rocha, justified keeping the nine digit number telephone terminals in the country, based on the fact there is still room in the country’s quota, according to Angola news agency Angop.

Carvalho da Rocha, who was speaking at the end of a Cabinet meeting also said the plan for licensing of telecommunications services and information technology operators had been approved.

As for the licensing of service operators in the sector, the minister gave assurances that Angola will move to the system of multi-service licenses, compared to the previous licensing of operators per service. (macauhub/AO)
