Guinea-Bissau government ready to host China/CPLP meeting

Guinea-Bissau will receive 150 official and business delegations for a meeting in Bissau of businesspeople from China and the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries, the coordinator of the meeting’s technical office said recently.

Giving an update on preparations for the meeting, coordinator Bruno Jauad gave assurances that “everything is ready” to welcome the delegations to Bissau on 9, 10 and 11 April.

The theme of the meeting is”Guinea-Bissau: Platform for Business Internationalisation in West Africa”and is intended to bring together the business community from China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries to discuss economic and trade cooperation.

The meeting is organised by the government of Guinea-Bissau in partnership with the China Council for International Investment Promotion and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and involves the participation of the Permanent Office of Forum Macau.

This is the first time since the Forum was created that Guinea-Bissau will host a business meeting between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries. The meeting will be attended by delegations from Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), China, Guinea-Bissau, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal and Timor-Leste (East Timor).

The Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries, also known as Forum Macau, was set up in 2003 and is headquartered in Macau.  (macauhub/AO/BR/CN/CV/GW/MO/MZ/PT/TL)
