Investment in Timor-Leste under discussion in Dili in June

The International Timor-Leste Investment Conference will be held in Dili on 6 and 7 June this year and the official opening will be chaired by Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, announced the organisers.

Organised by Australian company Informa Australia, which has the official support of the Timor-Leste government and TradeInvest Timor-Leste agency, the conference will present the first investment guide to Timor-Leste, which is currently being prepared.

The guide, to be prepared by EY Portugal, a subsidiary of Ernst & Young Global Limited, under a contract signed with the Timorese agency “is a focus by TradeInvest in foreign investment as a lever for economic growth and sustainable development of the country whilst promoting the territory to potential foreign investors.”

The topics for discussion at the conference include the role of Timor Gap in the economic and social development of the country, the experience of producing Heineken beer, the Tibar Bay port project and the role to be played by public-private partnerships, among others.

Participants include the president of TradeInvest Timor-Leste, Arcanjo da Silva, José Lobato, resident director of Conoco Phillips, the Australian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Peter Doyle, the managing director of Heineken Asia Pacific, the President of the Australia Timor-Leste Business Council, Denis Fernandes, the Director general of SDV East Timor, Bolloré Group, Rafael Ribeiro and Miguel Frasquilho, president of AICEP – Portugal.
