Macau received 7.45 million visitors during the first quarter of the year, an annual increase of 0.6 percent, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau.
The number of visitors from mainland China (4.94 million) fell 1.7 percent but those from South Korea (173,900), Hong Kong (1.55 million) and Taiwan (250,800) increased 3.1 percent, 3.6 percent and 11.6 percent, respectively, in the first three months of the year.
In March 2.36 million visitors entered Macau, a figure which represented an annual increase of 4.2 percent. Each visitors remained in the territory for an average of 1.2 days, 0.3 days more than in March 2015.
Of total visitor arrivals in March 1.48 million were from mainland China, +1.8 percent year on year, mainly from Guangdong province (636,630), Fujian (59,340) and Hunan (59,340). (macauhub/MO)
