China’s credit lines make it possible to build industrial hubs in Angola

The Caála Industrial Development Hub is one of seven projects of this type that are being built using credit lines opened by China, Angola’s Secretary of State for Industry said Saturday in the city of Huambo.

Kiala Gabriel said the process of building development hubs “is almost at the final stage, and now we are waiting for the results of the company the contract was awarded to,” according to Angolan state news agency Angop.

The Caála Hub, with over 1,000 hectares, went through a subdivision phase, followed by work to build infrastructure such as roads, sewerage, water supply and electricity networks, telecommunications and other public facilities and services.

The old Ulysses motorcycle and bicycle factory, located in the industrial zone of Chiva, on the outskirts of Huambo, is waiting for funding of US$5 million to re-launch production, said the director of the factory’s legal department.

João Major said the factory, at a standstill for about 10 years, will be called Átomo Progresso Motorizadas and has applied for a loan under the Angola Investe programme. (macauhub/AO)
