Cabo Verde’s (Cape Verde’s) President welcomed the cooperation between his country and China, in a message addressed to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of bilateral cooperation, according to a statement issued by the presidency.

“(Despite) combining and bringing together interests within international organisations, it is, however, in the context of bilateral relations that our two countries and their peoples have achieved huge harmony, which has translated into exemplary cooperation,” said the message from Jorge Carlos Fonseca.

The head of the Cape Verdean state mentioned the technical and material support provided by China to Cabo Verde’s armed forces, incentives and support for staff training and the installation of the national health system and strengthening the medical staff of the country’s main hospitals.

Fonseca then recalled China’s support for construction of several buildings and infrastructure, such as the National Assembly, the Government and the Presidency of the Republic, the Poilão dam, the National Stadium and the national Library and national Auditorium , among others. (macauhub/CN/CV)
