Macau casino revenues fall in April for 23rd consecutive month

Gross gaming revenue in Macau’s casino in April fell for the 23rd consecutive month to 17.341 billion patacas (US$2.167 billion), said the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).

In April, which continued the contraction that began in June 2014, gross revenue contracted by 9.5 percent in monthly terms.

Accumulated gross revenue from the beginning of the year amounted to 73.517 billion patacas (US$9.189 billion), an annual contraction of 12.4 percent.

Macau casinos closed 2015 with gross revenues of 230.840 billion patacas (US$28.855 billion), a figure that represented a contraction of 34.3 percent compared to 2014, when it totalled 351.521 billion patacas (US$43.94 billion).

At the end of 2015 there were 36 casinos in Macau owned by six concession holders, 20 by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, six by Galaxy Casino, four by Venetian Macau, four by Melco Crown Jogos (Macau), one by Wynn Resorts (Macau) and one by MGM Grand Paradise, which had a total of 5,957 tables and 14,578 slot machines.
