Angolan state-owned oil company Sonangol has selected the company Engineers India Limited (EIL) to provide services related to the construction of the Lobito refinery, the Indian company said in a statement.
In contract of an unknown value Sonangol selected EIL fro Front End Engineering Design Revalidation, Licensor Selection and Basic Design and Engineering Package Review..
The Lobito refinery, which will be installed on a site with 3,800 hectares, should become operational in 2018, six years after the first stone was laid in 2012, but there are already some delays to construction.
Requiring an investment of US$8 billion at the time of its launch, the Lobito refinery will have a daily processing capacity of 200,000 barrels of crude oil extracted in Angola and production of about 10 million tons of unleaded gasoline, diesel, jet fuel (Jet A1), kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas per year.
