Cabo Verde consumer confidence falls

The consumer confidence indicator in Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) evolved negatively in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, to below the series average, the National Statistics Institute (INE) reported in Praia.

The INE also reported that respondents to the Monthly Economic Consumer Survey made a negative assessment of their financial situation and the country in the next 12 months.

Over 80 percent of people contacted said that given the current economic situation of the country it was impossible to save and over 90 percent said they did not intend to purchase or build a home in the next two years.

This percentage, specifically 90.6 percent, an increase of 10.6 percentage points from the percentage of 80.0 percent recorded in the same period of 2015. (macauhub/CV)
