The China Gezhouba Group Company will build 3,000 social houses in Angola to rehouse families from a neighbourhood in Luanda city centre whose land has been expropriated under a presidential order.
The order, quoted by Portuguese news agency Lusa, explains the construction of these houses and related infrastructure with the need to rehouse families in the urban district of Sambizanga.
The contract award to China Gezhouba Group Company is worth US$ 37.3 million, with an additional US$4.1 million for supervision of the contract, a service that will be carried out by DAR Angola Consultoria.
The urban district of Sambizanga consists of the neighbourhoods known as Operario, Sambizanga and Ngola Kiluanje, at the edge of the city centre, a large part of which is an area of shantytowns without water, sanitation or a regular electricity supply.
The China Gezhouba Group Company Limited is a construction company based in Wuhan, Hubei province. (macauhub/AO/CN)
