Macau receives 12.4 million visitors from January to May

Macau received over 12.4 million visitors from January to May, a number that represents a marginal drop of 0.8 percent over the same period of 2015, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau.

The number of visitors from mainland China (8.2 million) and Hong Kong (2.5 million) dropped 1.5 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively, in annual terms, but visitors from South Korea (265,600) and Taiwan (424,400) increased 1.3 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.

In May 2.4 million visitors entered Macau, an annual drop of 2.8 percent and a slight increase of 0.3 percent compared to April.

The Statistics and Census Bureau also reported that visitors stayed in Macau for an average of 1.2 days, or an additional 0.1 days compared to the same month of 2015. (macauhub/MO)
