Angola awards 69 contracts under China’s credit line

To date the government of Angola has awarded 69 contracts to Chinese companies under the credit line opened by China in the amount of US$3.791 billion, according to presidential decrees published in the official gazette.

The most recent presidential orders, cited by Portuguese news agency Lusa, are for 15 public works projects with a combined value of US$631 million. The Chinese awarded the contracts are required to sub-contract Angolan companies.

Construction of the new water supply system in the city of Cabinda – Lot 1, awarded to the China Railway 20th Construction Bureau (CR20), will cost nearly US$120.2 million, while Lot 2 of the same contract, awarded to China Railway (International) Construction will cost US$88.8 million.

This batch of 15 new contracts includes repairing the Xinge/Lubalo road, in Lunda Sul province, to be awarded to the China National Machinery Industry Corporation Group (Sinomach), for US$59.4 million and national roads 110/280 between Caconda/Chicomba/Desvio de Quipungo and between Caconda/Rio Ngalo, in Huila province, to be undertaken by the China Railway 20 Bureau Group Corporation (CR20) for US$58.8 million.

China’s credit line will finance 155 projects in Angola with US$5.2 billion, carried out by 37 Chinese companies that were “recommended to the Angolan market.” (macauhub/AO/CN)
