The Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) Chamber of Tourism will take on the role of exclusive promoter of the West African archipelago’s tourism, a responsibility that so far had been shared with Cabo Verde Investimentos, said the re-elected president of the institution.
Gualberto do Rosário said at the end of a meeting with Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva the measure aims to “provide more effective tourism promotion of the archipelago.”
The president of Cabo Verde Chamber of Tourism also said that a memorandum of understanding on the new role of the institution will be signed soon with the government, a document setting out objectives, targets, measures and actions, as well as mechanisms accountability and reporting.
Cabo Verde’s Tourism Board is the result of a merger between the National Union of Cabo Verde Tour Operators (Unotur) and the Cape Verdean Association of Tourism Real Estate Promoters (Promitur) decided at a meeting held on Sal Island in July 2011. (macauhub/CV)
