Mozambique this week is due to take on the presidency of the Association of Supervisors of Lusophone Insurance (ASEL), an organisation that brings together professionals from the sector and similar bodies in Portuguese-speaking countries, Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias reported.
The Mozambican presidency will be taken on by the Supervisory Institute of Mozambique Insurance (ISSM) at the organisation’s General Meeting taking place from 26 to 27 July in Maputo.
The meeting was preceded on Monday by the 20th Conference of ASEL, which was attended by representatives of ASEL institutions and Mozambican public and private entities including insurers and insurance brokers operating in the country.
ASEL was established in 1994 and was recently admitted to the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) as an observer.
On Tuesday, which is the first day of the General Meeting, the President of the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Pension Funds of Portugal (ASF), José Almaça, will make a presentation focused on financial education, while Lyndwill Clarke, a member of South Africa’s Financial Services Board will speak on the theme of “Impact of Insurance Consumer Campaigns – South Africa’s Experience,” among other talks.
