Angola and Cabo Verde are planning technical cooperation in the area of maritime and port security per the terms of a protocol signed by both countries in Luanda, reports Angop news agency.
The protocol signed by the two country’s maritime and ports agencies calls for Cabo-Verdean experts to give courses in Angola, while Angolan personnel will receive training in maritime, port and navigation security, among others, in that island country.
The Maritime and Ports Agency of Cabo Verde and the Marine Science Department of Cabo Verde University will thereby train and certify Angolan seamen, including officers of the Angolan merchant marine.
Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) also commits to providing legal, technical and professional assistance to Angolan maritime and ports personnel, and to help the Angolan maritime administration’s efforts to place Angola on the White List of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
The two parties also decided to set up a bilateral technical commission to plan, coordinate and guarantee the protocol’s sustainability. (Macauhub/AO/CV)
