China’s Sinohydro awarded more public works projects in Angola

Chinese group Sinohydro has been hired by the Angolan government to carry out repairs on three sections of road in the provinces of Kwanza Sul, Kwanza Norte and Malanje for US$127.7 million, according to presidential orders.

The same orders awarded five public works to Chinese companies for US$163.5 million, all of which are financed by the credit line opened by China for Angola.

Two of the awards were made to theChina National Machinery Industry Corporation Group (Sinomach) for construction of water supply networks in the provinces of Huambo and Bié, costing US$35.8 million.

Since May the Angolan government has awarded 74 public projects to Chinese companies, worth over US$3.955 billion.

China’s credit line will finance 155 projects in Angola with US$5.2 billion, run by Chinese companies, which have to subcontract work to Angolan companies.

The operational plan for the Chinese credit line, prepared by the Angolan government with the work to be carried out by Chinese companies under this financing, includes a list of 37 Chinese companies “recommended to the Angolan market.” (macauhub/AO/CN)
