The 52nd edition of the Maputo International Fair (Facim 2016) is due to open on Monday, in Ricatla, Marracuene district, Maputo province, with the participation of 33 countries, two of which, Ireland and Belarus are taking part for the first time.
João Macaringue, president of the Institute for Export Promotion (Ipex), the fair’s organiser, said at the weekend that everything was ready for the event to open. The fair will showcase at least 2,350 Mozambican companies and 630 foreign companies, compared to 2,250 in 2015.
The President of Ipex added that despite the adversities affecting Mozambique everything is being done for the fair to promote the country’s potential.
Macaringue considered that the presence of a significant number of domestic and foreign exhibitors is a sign that, despite all the adversities, the country remains credible in attracting investors.
The fair, according to Macaringue, will be a platform for exchange and cooperation, with a number of activities including exhibitions, seminars, promotional meetings and business matching.
Facim 2016, which is due to end on 4 September, has 12 pavilions divided into modules of nine square metres, where all the provinces, Mozambican and foreign companies will be on display.
The fair’s organisers estimate there will be 87,00 visitors this year, an additional 3,900 compared to 2015. (macauhub/MZ)
