Fifteen hotels were under construction in Macau in the second quarter of the year, adding 10,711 rooms to current accommodation in the territory, said the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT).
Eight of these projects were being built on the Macau peninsula itself, with a total of 561 rooms, and five were being built in Cotai, a landfill area between the islands of Coloane and Taipa, with a total of 9,542 rooms.
The two islands, Taipa and Coloane, each had one hotel under construction in the second quarter of the year, which will provide 373 and 236 news rooms, respectively.
The DSSOPT also said in a statement that another 37 hotel projects were planned, providing another 8,811 rooms after they are finished.
Thirty of the planned hotels will be located on the Macau peninsula and will provide 3,575 rooms, and another four hotels will be built inCotai, adding 4,642 rooms. (macauhub/MO)
