The Chinese ambassador to Mozambique on Wednesday led the formal delivery of television broadcasting satellite equipment to Mozambique Television (TVM), with an estimated value of US$10 million.

The equipment, delivered on the premises of the Maputo International Fair, included three outdoor cars and several cameras, according to Mozambican news agency AIM.

The formal delivery of the donation was witnessed by the Chinese ambassador in the country, Su Jian, the President of Mozambique Television, Jaime Cuambe and the director of the Information Office (GABINFO), Emilia Moiane, among others.

The ambassador told AIM that China had delivered similar equipment to Zimbabwe and Tanzania but stressed that the equipment given to Mozambique was the last generation.

The equipment is part of an aid package comprising eight terrestrial digital television transmitters for the border regions, as part of analogue to digital migration. (macauhub/CN/MZ)
