The ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Guinea-Bissau, Wang Hua, was distinguished this weekend in Bissau by the Quelele district residents association at a gala organised by the local community radio station.
Wang Hua expressed his gratitude for the gesture and recalled that China was one of the first countries in the world to provide political, financial and material support to Guinea-Bissauans in the fight against colonisation. China will continue to stand by Guinea-Bissau in efforts to end poverty and underdevelopment, he said.
Ongoing Chinese support for the country will be enhanced via the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Forum on Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), he added, explaining that China hopes to boost bilateral cooperation in the areas of agriculture, education, medicine, infrastructures and personnel training.
The director of Rádio Voz de Quelélé, Dauda Dabo, highlighted recent aid granted to Guinea-Bissau by China, specifically in the form of personnel training and material and equipment for the Journalists Union, media outlets and state and non-governmental organisations, besides the construction of various infrastructures.
