2016 edition of the Luanda International Fair cancelled due to lack of exhibitors

7 November 2016

The 2016 edition of the Luanda International Fair (Filda), the largest multisector trade fair in Angola has been cancelled due to a small number of registered exhibitors, the Luanda International Fair (FIL), said in a statement issued in Luanda.

The 33rd edition of Filda, which was scheduled for July and which was later postponed to November, is now scheduled for 18-23 of July 2017, according to the same statement.

“As there is a need to maintain the levels of organization and quality of Filda 2016 for technical reasons with the difficulty of importing materials and equipment to set up the fair and others of interest to exhibitors, the 33rd edition of Filda is being postponed,” said the statement signed by the chairman of FIL, José de Matos Cardoso.

The official information from FIL (a private company with public capital that organizes various trade fairs in Luanda) states that 30 days from being held on 17-20 November, Filda 2016 had “just 206 national and foreign exhibitors” a reduction of more than 75% compared to 853 companies that took part in the fair in 2015.

Exhibitors registered, the statement said, occupied just 7,721 square metres, far below the available area of 28,000 square metres and seven pavilions in 2015. (macauhub)
