Macau population falls by 4,800 people in three months

The population of Macau decreased by 4,800 people from the second to the third quarter of 2016, having stood at 647,700 at the end of September, with the female population representing 51.4% of the total, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau.

At the end of September 2015 the Macau population stood at 643,100 people, according to demographic statistics released by the bureau.

In the third quarter of 2016 Macau had a total of 1,573 Chinese immigrants, 302 more than in the previous quarter and 180,277 non-resident workers, which represents a decrease of 2,182 individuals on the previous quarter.

Macau’s land area currently stands at 30.4 square kilometres and therefore with a population of 647,700 people it has a population density of 21,306 people per square kilometre, one of the highest in the world. (macauhub)
