A delegation from the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) was recently in Beijing to promote Macau as a destination for conventions and exhibitions (MICE) at the 83rd Global UFI Congress – Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, IPIM said.
The 83rd Global UFI Congress was held under the theme “Ripples – The Exhibition Industry in Transformation”, and the participants analysed the main challenges that the MICE industry faces today, including the changes brought about by the digital age, the uncertainty linked to political instability and the transformation of the global economy.
The representatives of IPIM, a government body officially responsible for promoting the development of the convention and exhibition sector in Macau, participated in the main activities of the event and the Institute set up a stand at the conference to promote the advantages of Macau as a MICE destination.
The UFI is one of the leading organisations worldwide in the MICE sector, with the 2016 edition of the Congress gathering together about 590 participants from more than 40 countries and regions, including leaders of the MICE sector, executives, young professionals and experts.
In January this year, during the China Expo Forum for International Cooperation (CEFCO 2016), the organising committee of the event announced the choice of Macau as the host city of the 2017 edition of the Forum, this being the first time the event will be held outside mainland China. (macauhub)
