The registered unemployment rate in Macau in 2016 was 1.9%, which represented an increase of 0.1 percentage points from the rate recorded in 2015, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau.
Median monthly employment earnings of the employed population was 15,000 patacas (US$ 1,875) and for employed residents stood at 18,000 patacas (US$2,250), unchanged in relation to 2015.
The unemployment rate in the fourth quarter was 1.9%, unchanged from the previous period (September to November), and the underemployment rate was 0.6%, a fall of 0.1 percentage points.
The active population totalled 392,600 people in the period and the employed population was 385,000 people, and the unemployed population was 7,600 people, similar to that observed in the previous period.
The Bureau also reported that the number of unemployed people looking for work between October and December accounted for 8.9% of the total unemployed population, down 5.8 percentage points. (macauhub)
