Macau discusses “One Band, One Route” initiative with Fukien and Guangdong

Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On will travel to Fuzhou and Guangzhou between 22 and 24 of this month to study with the governments of Fujian and Guangdong future cooperation and joint participation in the Chinese central government’s initiative “One Band, One Route” initiative.

This is the first step in a series of other initiatives that the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) will carry out in order to formally participate in the initiatives launched in 2013 by President Xi Jinping of the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” known as “One Belt, One Road.”

The MSAR plans, according to an official statement, to cooperate with Guangdong and Fujian, among others, to create the Guangdong, ​​Hong Kong and Macau great bay area and strengthen cooperation with the island of Hengqin and with Nansha, Qianhai and Pingtan, as well as other cooperation platforms of the experimental free trade zone.

The “One Band, One Route” project aims to promote strategic development and economic and financial prosperity of the nations that are along the route. (macauhub)
