The World Bank will provide US$62 million to Angola for the National Statistics Institute (INE) to carry out specific projects over a period of five years, under an agreement signed on Thursday in Luanda.
The World Bank’s financial support will fund three specific projects, one of which is the Agro-Livestock and Fisheries Census, which will begin as soon as the funds start to be made available.
A second project is a survey of revenues, expenditures and employment in Angola, which will take 12 months and will update the data of the consumer price index and enable the assessment of the informal sector in Angola and household consumption.
The last project concerns the improvement of National Accounts, which INE began publishing on a quarterly basis in the Gross Domestic Product Bulletin.
In addition to the population and housing census, carried out in Angola in 2014, on a monthly basis INE produces the Consumer Price Index on inflation developments, the monthly Wholesale Price Index, the Quarterly Gross Domestic Product Bulletin and annual and quarterly statistical reports on the evolution of foreign trade, among other studies.
