Macau fair seeks to deepen cooperation in environmental protection

The Macau International Environmental Cooperation Exhibition (MIECF) promotes exchange and closer cooperation in the environmental protection sector between the region of the Pan Pearl River Delta Region (Pan-PRD), Macau and the international community, said on Thursday the Chief Executive of Macau.

Chui Sai On, giving a welcome speech to this year’s participants, said the MIECF promoted the signing of the “Protocol of Cooperation for the Development of a Green Metropolitan Area for Promotion of the Conventions and Exhibitions Industry,” within the framework of cooperation in the Pan-PRD.

The Macau government recently organised the visit by a delegation of government representatives from the provinces and regions in the Pan-PRD to Brazil and Portugal, to give participants a better understanding of ecological conservation methods used by these countries as well as to solidify the environmental cooperation between the parties concerned.

Macau will also take advantage of the development opportunities created by the “One Belt, One Road,” strategy accelerating the development of Macau’s role as “One Centre, One Platform,” in order to encourage closer regional cooperation in the area of ​​environmental protection and the development of a green economy, the Chief Executive said.

MIECF 2017 continues with the “Green Showcase,” the “Green Business Network Meeting,” as well as other seminars and presentation sessions. (macauhub)
